Burke treats his college buddy Bill, whose medical diagnosis raises some questions regarding his wife’s actions. Then just as Meredith and Derek grow more intimate, a surprise is revealed.

The team gets close, but then run into a couple dead ends. The clock is ticking and time is running out for Nick who is suffering and suffocating underground.

Unfortunately, what’s supposed to be an easy case turns out to have ties to their past and may endanger Juliet. When Peter gets a pet parrot, he begins acting like a pirate. Peter accidentally kills the bird after raising hell through all of Quahog. Meanwhile, when Brian is visiting the vet, Chris falls in love with the intern, Anna.

While out for a family dinner, the Barones spot Robert’s ex-wife, which prompts them to reminisce about the demise of his marriage. The family tells Amy the truth about Robert’s failed marriage to Joanne, but the surprise sighting also brings back some personally harrowing memories for Robert—although, when Joanne suggests the ex-spouses get together, Robert seems interested.
